Tech is bleeding and Apple is the only one laughing — that's your Friday setup.
Futures first. S&P down six-tenths. Nasdaq off one-point-oh-six. VIX sitting at 17.16 — elevated but not panicking. Gold up three-tenths. Every major ETF is red. IWM down a full point. This is broad.
Intel down 5.57% to 100.32. Chips are getting hit hardest. AMD off 3.36% to 503.60. Nvidia down 2.37% to 218.36. Broadcom down 0.97% — same sector, same pressure, smaller wound. Semiconductors are the story today and none of it is good.
Oracle down 5.38% to 152.94. That's a hard drop for enterprise software. Whatever momentum it had coming in, it's gone this morning.
Apple up 3.56% to 326.57. One name bucking the entire tape. Everything else in tech is red and Apple is green. That divergence is notable.
Google up 0.59%. Second green name in a sea of red. Not explosive, but it's holding while the rest of the sector falls apart.
Meta down 1.42% to 644.38. Tesla down 1.16% to 363.56. UNH off 1.22% to 388.28 — healthcare isn't a safe haven today.
ExxonMobil up 0.61%. Energy moving positive while tech sells off. That's a rotation signal worth watching. Salesforce down 0.48% to 243 — not leading the damage, but it's not immune either.
No economic data on the calendar. Clean macro tape. The moves today are stock-driven.
On earnings: Hooker Furnishings reports before the open, consensus minus two cents. Moneylion also pre-market, consensus minus two cents. America's Car-Mart reports this morning, consensus minus 78 cents. Rent the Runway before open, no estimate on file. AnaptysBio reports after the close, consensus minus seven cents. BUKS also after close.
None of these are market-movers unless they blow the number completely.
Bottom line: tech is under pressure across the board except Apple and Google. Intel and Oracle are taking the sharpest hits — both down more than five percent. Semis are getting the worst of it. Energy and gold are the quiet winners. Watch whether that Apple strength holds or fades into the open.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Trade accordingly.
