Tech ran the show Friday, and the semis led the charge.
INTC up 2.61%, closing at 102.94. Semis caught a bid and Intel got the most of it. AMD up 2.49% at 516.13 — same trade, different name. The chip sector moved together Friday and neither name lagged.
ORCL down 1.74% at 150.28. Two red names on the day — Oracle and UNH. Worth noting Oracle faded while the rest of tech ran. UNH down 2.37% at 379.09. Healthcare sat out the rally entirely.
AMZN up 1.94% at 256.78. CRM matched it exactly — also up 1.94% at 247.72. Two different sectors, identical move. Make of that what you will. NFLX up 1.83% at 77.40, GOOGL up 1.77% at 338.50, AAPL up 1.75% at 332.27. The mega-caps formed a clean staircase down from the semis — orderly, not explosive.
Broad market held its shape. SPY up 0.85%, QQQ up 0.87%, DIA leading the ETF board at plus 0.97%. IWM the laggard at 0.41% — small caps didn't get the same love. VIX sitting at 15.84. Not panicked, not complacent. Gold added 0.58%.
Asian markets unavailable overnight. No economic data on the calendar. No earnings on deck. Clean tape heading into the weekend — no known catalysts to navigate around.
The setup: tech carried Friday's session, macro stayed quiet, and volatility stayed contained. The semis outperformed, mega-caps followed, and the two red names — Oracle and UNH — reminded you this wasn't a clean risk-on sweep across every sector.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Trade accordingly.
