Tech just got dragged behind the woodshed and Apple was the only one who didn't take the beating.
Intel down 5.57%, sitting at 100.32. Worst drop on this board today. Oracle right behind it — down 5.38% to 152.94. Two names, same kind of pain, no coincidence.
AMD off 3.36% to 503.60. Nvidia down 2.37% to 218.36. Chips are getting sold across the board, and Broadcom at negative 0.97% is the only chip-adjacent name that mostly held — small loss, but it's still red.
Apple up 3.56% to 326.57. The outlier. Only major tech name that closed green in a session that punished the sector.
Meta down 1.42% to 644.38. UNH dropped 1.22% to 388.28. Tesla off 1.16% to 363.56. Salesforce down 0.48% — quiet but still on the wrong side.
Google slipped 0.59%. Exxon up 0.61% — the other counterpoint to the red tape today, and the only energy name worth noting when everything else is bleeding.
Futures confirm the damage. SPY off 0.60%. QQQ down 1.06% — tech leads the drop there too. IWM down 1.01%. DIA off 0.63%. Broad-based, but QQQ is where the pressure lives.
VIX at 17.84. Not panic territory, but elevated enough to notice. Gold data unavailable. Asian overnight markets unavailable. No economic calendar events today — this move is pure price and positioning.
Earnings after close: ANAB reporting with a negative EPS estimate. CRMT with a negative 0.79 estimate — that's the one to watch for magnitude. BUKS also on deck. Pre-market tomorrow: HOFT, MNY, and RENT — all carrying negative estimates going in.
No scheduled macro catalyst today means this selloff is the story. Apple held. Exxon held. Everything else in tech got repriced lower on a Friday. That combination heading into a weekend with VIX pushing toward 18 is worth knowing.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Trade accordingly.
