The Fed just put two dates on the calendar that every bank trader needs to know.
Two items straight from the Federal Reserve wire.
First. Enforcement actions against a former Atlantic Union Bank employee and a former Frost Bank employee. Details are thin. But when the Fed moves against individuals, compliance costs follow. Watch both names.
Second. And this one moves markets. The Fed has confirmed annual bank stress test results drop Wednesday, June 24th. Four p.m. Eastern. Ten days out. Stress test day is a binary event for the majors — JPMorgan, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Goldman, Morgan Stanley. Capital return decisions hinge on these numbers. Buybacks. Dividends. All of it gets green-lit or strangled based on what prints that afternoon.
Mark June 24th. Four p.m. Eastern. Be in position before it hits.
The enforcement actions are noise. The stress test date is the signal.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Trade accordingly.
