Tech is getting punched in the face this morning — and the green names aren't even in the same zip code.
Futures first. SPY down zero point four five. QQQ down zero point eight. Small caps and Dow holding better — IWM off a third, DIA down a quarter. VIX sitting at seventeen — not panicking, but not comfortable. Gold slipping too, down zero point six eight. No economic data on the calendar today. The tape speaks for itself.
Now the movers.
Intel down five point five nine percent to ninety-seven nineteen. Biggest loser on the board. Bank of America down five point one four to fifty-nine forty-seven — financials taking a real hit alongside semis. Broadcom down four point seven seven to three forty-four seventy-two. AMD down four point four to four ninety-three forty-one. Oracle down three point six five to one forty-four seventy-nine. Nvidia down three point three six to two ten ninety-six. Semis and chips getting crushed across the board — this is not isolated. Intel, Broadcom, AMD, Nvidia — all of them. Same sector, same tape, same story.
Bright spots — yes, there are some. Salesforce up four point seven three to two fifty-nine forty-three. Netflix up three point seven seven to eighty thirty-two. Alphabet up three point two two to three forty-nine thirty-nine. Meta up two point seven one to six sixty-five sixty. Microsoft up one point nine seven to five oh five forty-one. Eli Lilly up two point oh two to eleven thirty-eight twenty-eight. That is a rotation signal. Money moving out of semiconductors and into mega-cap software, pharma, and consumer tech. Watch that spread into the open.
Earnings on deck. FedEx reports after the close — street expecting four dollars and five cents. Lennar also after the close, consensus one dollar thirty-two. ISPR and LUXE report before the open, both in penny-stock territory. ABAT and ALMU also on the calendar, both carrying negative estimates.
No Asian market data overnight. Flying blind on that one.
The chip selloff is the story. The green cluster is the subplot. Both are real.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Trade accordingly.
