The Fed is not done cleaning house — three enforcement actions just dropped, and the names attached tell you exactly how deep this goes.
Former employee of Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, hit with an enforcement action dated August 27th. Former employee of Regions Bank and former employee of First Interstate Bank, enforcement actions dated July 30th. Individual-level actions. Not the institutions — the people. That is the Fed going surgical, and when they go surgical, it means the institutional cases are either already closed or still building.
Banco Popular, Regions, First Interstate — these are not the same tier of institution, and they are not in the same geography, which tells me this is not a regional story. This is the Fed working a list.
Three former employees. Three separate enforcement releases. All hitting the wire in the same cycle. That pattern does not happen by accident. These are moving through the pipeline one by one, and the pipeline is not empty.
And then there is the NatWest application approval — buried under the enforcement noise, but do not sleep on it. The Fed greenlit a foreign bank expansion in the same cycle it is publicly naming individuals at domestic institutions. That is a message about who they trust and who they are watching. NatWest gets the door opened. Former employees at regional banks get the door closed on them. That contrast is the whole story.
I want to know who is next on that list. Because there is always a next.
The numbers are the numbers. Management can spin. We don't.
