Red across the board and the signal board is telling two different stories.
Bitcoin is sitting at $81,032, down 2.9% on the session. That number alone is not the story. The story is what sits underneath it. Thirty-eight signals on BTC, the most of any asset on this board, and they are nearly deadlocked — 17 bull, 18 bear. That is not a market with conviction. That is a market with confusion, and confusion at this price level after a multi-week compression is a setup you respect. The aggregate signal reads bearish at 22% confidence, and 22% confidence on 38 signals is not a strong bearish call. It is a tug of war with bears holding the rope by one hand. BTC does not have a clear directional thesis into the US open. What it has is a range, and whatever breaks that range in the first hour of the New York session will matter. Watch the $80,200 level. A clean flush below that on volume is not a bounce opportunity — it is a continuation signal.
Ethereum is the weaker twin today. Down 5.5% to $2,368, and the signal board backs it up. Bearish at 30% confidence with 11 bear signals against 7 bull. That is a cleaner directional read than Bitcoin. Ethereum is underperforming BTC on a percentage basis, which tells you rotation is not flowing in. Institutional interest in Ethereum has been structurally soft since the post-Merge narrative faded. The ETF conversation around Ethereum never carried the same weight as Bitcoin's, and in a risk-off flush, Ethereum finds no natural buyer willing to step in front of it. The 5.5% drawdown overnight with that signal split says this asset does not bottom before BTC does.
Now the altcoin layer, and this is where it gets interesting. Because the broad altcoin signal reads bullish at 37% confidence, and several individual names are holding relative strength even as the large caps bleed out. That divergence is real and worth mapping carefully.
HYPE leads the board at 49% confidence bullish on a single signal. That is the highest confidence reading of any asset tracked today. One signal, but the strength of it stands out against a board that is otherwise fragmented. AAVE, PEPE, DOGE, and XRP are all registering 40% confidence bullish. XRP is showing $1.31, down 4.7%, but two signals both pointing the same direction gives that reading more structural weight than the single-signal names. XRP has a clear regulatory narrative backstop that alters how it trades against pure risk sentiment. DOGE at $0.0801 down 4.8%, but the bullish signal persists — DOGE has its own demand structure driven by retail speculation cycles that do not always correlate with institutional flow. Note it, do not build a thesis around it.
SUI is reading bullish with a split — 2 bull signals against 1 bear, 24% confidence at $0.9867 down 6.4%. The $1.00 level is psychological and structural. A reclaim of that level on volume would be the tell. Below it, SUI is just another alt bleeding alongside the broader market. Solana is on the bullish signal list but the signal confidence reads neutral with 0%. That is an asset in no-man's land. $102.33, down 4.2%, and the market is not forming a view. Neutral at 0% confidence means the aggregated signals have canceled each other out entirely. That is not an entry context. That is a wait context.
LINK is down 6.9% to $12.01, the largest percentage loser in the top-tier assets tracked today, and the signal reads neutral at 0% confidence. Avalanche is down 6.2% to $9.56. ADA is down 5.8% to $0.2211. These are not leading signals. These are assets being sold because they are liquid, not because there is a specific thesis against them. That is what happens in a flush — traders sell what they can, not what they want to.
HEX and ZEC are the cleanest directional reads on the board today. HEX bearish at 61% confidence, ZEC bearish at 58%. Those are the highest confidence readings of any asset on this board, and they are both pointing down.
The macro environment is mixed heading into the session. The dollar has not broken in either direction with conviction. Fed policy remains the anchor — no cut is priced for the near-term, which means the cost-of-capital argument for risk assets stays compressed. Fear and Greed sits at 53. Neutral. That reading historically corresponds to a market that has not decided. Institutions are not capitulating and they are not adding. They are watching. When institutional money watches, retail fills the vacuum with noise, and noise in a compressed range produces shakeouts, not trends.
The psychology in this market right now is fragile confidence. Traders who bought the dip two weeks ago are sitting on thin margins. They do not want to sell, but they will if the tape forces them. That is the position the market is in going into New York. One clean move lower on volume and those hands open. One clean rejection at resistance with a bid forming underneath and the alt divergence becomes a tradeable rotation. Both setups are live. Neither is confirmed.
Watch the BTC range break. Watch whether the altcoin bullish signals hold as the US session absorbs overnight selling. The divergence between large-cap weakness and mid-cap bullish signals is the most important structural read on the board today.
