The Fed just rubber-stamped two bank acquisitions and terminated an enforcement action in a single session — consolidation is accelerating and regulators are clearing the runway.
Three moves out of FedRSS today. First: National Westminster Bank — approved. Application greenlit as of August 20th. Second: Coastal Bend Bancshares — approved. Order dated August 4th, posted today. Two separate institutions. Two separate approvals. Both clearing the same regulatory gate in the same batch drop.
Third action — and this one sharpens the picture: enforcement terminated against SNB Bancshares and Bank of Eufaula. That's not an approval. That's a release. The Fed lifted a standing order. Whatever compliance pressure those institutions were carrying — gone.
Three signals. One direction. Approvals moving. Restrictions lifting. The regulatory gate swung open more than once today, and all three came from the same source in the same window.
That's not coincidence. That's a pattern. Regional banking consolidation has a tailwind right now, and the Fed is not standing in the way.
Watch the regionals. Watch the bid activity. The data is out.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Trade accordingly.
