Sunday pre-market and the tech tape is split right down the middle — know which side you're on before the bell.
Netflix down 4.67%, sitting at 71.79. No obvious catalyst — that's the part that should make you nervous. Unexplained selling is harder to fade than news-driven selling. Meta off 2.43% at 665.75. Salesforce down 2.03% at 237.92. Oracle dropping 1.98% to 147.61. Three enterprise and social names leaking in tandem — that's not random, and it's not noise.
Now the other side. Broadcom up 2.97% at 357.61 — chip demand narrative holding. AMD up 2.7% at 559.82, riding the same wave. Nvidia up 1.34% to 222.27, quieter than its peers but still green. Amazon adding 1% at 253.71, steady.
Semiconductors are carrying the session. Software is getting sold.
Futures: SPY flat at minus 0.12%. QQQ up 0.63% — tech futures outperforming the broader market. Small caps and industrials lagging, IWM down 0.47%, DIA off 0.48%. The rotation signal is right there in those numbers. VIX at 14.81 — nobody's panicking. Gold up 0.57%, quiet defensive bid.
Asian markets unavailable overnight. Trade accordingly.
No economic data on the calendar today. Clean tape from a macro standpoint.
Earnings today — none of these are market movers. AAR Corp reporting, consensus at 1.34 EPS. EBF with a 39-cent estimate. BNC and CBIH and COOT with no estimates listed. Bioxcellerance reporting after the close, consensus negative 28 cents. Niche names, niche impact.
Bottom line: QQQ futures are the bright spot. Semis are the engine. But Netflix, Meta, Salesforce, and Oracle are all sliding into a session with zero macro catalysts to reverse them — that pressure doesn't just disappear.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Trade accordingly.
