Oracle is leading the charge this morning and the rest of tech is having an identity crisis.
Oracle up 5.36%, trading at 153.28. Earnings lit it up. Walmart up 2.43% at 116.01 — consumer holding. Intel up 3.32% at 100.95, quietly climbing. Nvidia up 3.03% at 224.09, momentum intact.
Now the red side. Meta down 3.38% at 578.85 — no specific catalyst, just selling. Microsoft down 2.26% at 492.43. Salesforce down 2.10% at 193.32. Amazon down 1.83% at 267.28. The mega-cap softness is broad enough to notice.
Futures are mixed but not ugly. QQQ leading at plus 0.73. SPY holding at plus 0.25. IWM adding 0.57. Dow flat — DIA barely negative at minus 0.02. VIX sitting at 14.55, which is calm. Gold up 0.75%, a quiet bid for safety running alongside the equity rally. Asian markets unavailable this morning.
Nothing on the economic calendar today. Clean tape. Price action gets to speak for itself.
Earnings to watch. ACXP reports before the open — EPS estimate negative 0.38. AMSS and BRFH report after the close. AMSS is the only one in the group with a positive EPS estimate, sitting at 0.30. The rest of today's reporters — ACTU, AIRE, BKYI — are all loss-side estimates. Speculative territory.
The setup: two distinct camps in tech. Oracle, Intel, Nvidia are showing strength. Meta, Microsoft, Salesforce, Amazon are dragging. The divergence inside one sector on a calm VIX day is the story. Walmart adding nearly two and a half percent tells you defensives are getting a look too.
AMD up 1.82% at 482.93. Tesla down 1.59% at 327.51. Bank of America up 1.27% at 64.81. Apple down 0.87% at 302.25. The mid-tier moves are consistent with the split — cyclicals and financials catching a bid, consumer tech leaking.
Watch how the QQQ gap holds at the open. If it fades, the red in mega-cap gets louder fast.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Trade accordingly.
