Chips ran, banks bled, and the rest of the market mostly got out of the way.
Broadcom up 4.83% to 388.69. Leading the session, full stop. Nvidia up 3.65% to 204.12 — semis were the only sector that showed up today.
Now the red side. BAC down 2.61% to 58.30. JPM down 2.54% to 330.62. Banks got hit hard, no earnings catalyst to explain it away. TSLA down 2.19% to 394.06. META down 2.02% to 603.12. CRM down 1.73% to 166.58. LLY down 1.60% to 1215.83 — eight names, six in the red.
Semis pulled up. Everything else dragged.
ETFs tell the story fast. QQQ up 0.28% — tech kept it afloat. SPY down 0.31%. IWM down 0.92%. DIA down 1.07% — small caps and Dow both took hits. This was not a broad rally. This was Broadcom and Nvidia carrying a market that had no business being green.
VIX sitting at 16.9. Not panicking, not complacent. Neutral zone.
Gold unavailable. Moving on.
Asian markets unavailable overnight. Nothing to lean on there.
Economic calendar is empty today. No Fed speak, no data drops.
Earnings on deck: DAL reports before the open. Estimate is $1.47 per share. Delta is always a read on consumer travel spend — watch it. Also reporting: AMBK, BUKS, FGFH, GDHG, GDST. Smaller names, lower volume, but they're on the board.
The session basically split at the sector line. If you were in chips, today worked. If you were in banks, it didn't. That divergence is worth watching tomorrow.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Trade accordingly.
