Semis are getting absolutely torched today and banks are the only thing keeping this session from turning into a full rout.
Intel down 8.45% to 117.05. Chips are bleeding out. AMD off 7.3% at 507.29. Broadcom drops 4.37% to 376.71. This is a sector-wide flush — not a single name story. Nvidia loses 2.37%, settles at 207.41. Oracle down 2.24% to 188.33, dragged along for the ride.
Now the green. JPMorgan up 3.68% at 331.14 — rotation into financials is real and it's loud. Bank of America gains 1.74% at 56.84. Money is moving out of growth and into balance sheets.
Netflix off 3.61% at 78.72. No earnings catalyst — pure risk-off selling.
Meta up 1.13% at 600.21. One of the few growth names catching a bid while everything around it burns.
Salesforce down 1.73% at 161.71. Microsoft off 1.48% at 393.83. Tesla loses 1.58%, settles at 404.66. The damage isn't just semis — it's spread across the whole growth complex.
ETFs confirm the split. QQQ down 1.9% — tech heavy, tech hurt. IWM off 0.87%. DIA up 0.58% — Dow catching the financial bid. SPY down 0.60%, blending the carnage. VIX sits at 16.41. Elevated but not panicking. Gold data unavailable today.
No economic calendar events. Nothing on the macro calendar to reverse this.
Earnings: Accenture reported before the open. EPS estimate was 3.75. Watch the actual print — consulting revenue signals enterprise spend, and right now enterprise spend is the question nobody wants to answer out loud. AIMAU, CRCW, CYAN, DPG, DTF also on the docket. Smaller names, thinner liquidity — trade accordingly.
The read today: semis got hit in unison, which makes this a macro call, not a company call. When Intel and Nvidia and AMD all fall together like this, somebody big is reducing exposure to the entire space. Banks caught that rotation. Whether it holds tomorrow depends on whether this is a one-day rebalance or the start of something longer.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Trade accordingly.
